Copyright © Tollgerdt Ledarutveckling AB Tollgerdt Management Development (Ltd) PERSONAL THOUGHTS ABOUT MANAGEMENT  I have met many people in leading positions – in both the private and the public sector as well as on a national and international basis – most of them have had a desire to develop their ability to manage and lead. What is good management and how can you develop as a manager or leader? I have gradually become more and more convinced that deve-  loping as a manager is the same as developing as a human  being. The basis for being able to develop as a human being is  to strengthen one’s self-esteem – a positive view of oneself  provides a sense of confidence and assurance that is  communicated to those around.   How can you develop your self-esteem? Our personality and earlier life experiences are of course im-  portant contributors but the more I meet people the more I  have become convinced that it is possible to develop and  strengthen one’s self-esteem – the key to doing this is self-  awareness and self-knowledge.
